Today David Cameron will be calling President Obama to discuss among other things the BP oil disaster. The same day England will tackle the USA on their first game of the World Cup 2010. Let’s hope that our new leader will forge a healthy relationship with Obama despite the President’s quite unbelievably crass and childish approach to the disaster.
I think that DC and BO will get on with each other extremely well. Their values are similar, they are relatively young and I think that they will shine a light on this depressing world. I’m worried about all this talk of recession.
what an absolutely amazing gig at the 02 in Dublin. The little Stevie Wonder that has inspired generations to love good music showed not weakening of his genius. Sometimes I feel that Stevie has been ignored by the great and the good over the years. Now people at last are remembering his absolutely fabulous tunes, writings, his devotion to man and how important that we all stop fighting and hating. The warm balmy night in my adorable Dublin had me as always legging it into the 02 arena after a flighty car journey from Belfast.
Having just checked into the Brook Hotel in Upper George Street, the happy levels had already accelerated when a lovely bubbly receptionist informed me that my room had been upgraded to a suite YEA!!.
Stevie was on his keyboard organ on arrival. The rotund figure a speckle on the stage. Bit by bit i nudged my way up to the front. Everyone was in a fabulous feel good mood, booming smiles came in my direction from all the loved up ones in the audience. A giant in the audience caused some smiles - especially when he located himself right in front of me.
As I looked around at those guys in their seats above the standing area I could see all were fully off their seats and rocking to the man giant of the night Stevie!!
Leaving the arena was as much fun as inside. The beautiful full moon lit River Liffey was a wonderful side friend accompanying truly happy revellers - singing their versions of Wonder hits. At the same time the cars leaving the arena were loud with Stevie Wonder creations, one girl ended up dancing with a car towards the city centre.
A couple of glasses of wine and a desire for some good late night dinning led us to discover a fantastic Indian! What a night In the City!!
Sign Sealed & Delivered - way before Glastonbury!! Dublin’s been blessed!!
Been a bit of a cancerous week in NI politics and general life this week. STarting on Sunday with the Mo Drama. A lady diagnosed with Cancer and appointed with the top job in NI politics. Mo Molam the drama was televised on channel 4
Thought I’d stop off at St George’s for some gorgeous dulse and ended up having some fabulous conversations with the gregarious and passionate traders. The place was buzzing with atmosphere of happy happy people, buying and tucking into some of the best artisan produce in the country. The music filled the air and one couldn’t help but feel a littel bit special walking through. I picked up a handmade fab bracelet, the lady selling had an impressive stall of creations made from other people left over jewellery and trinkets. She even created a neclace from a left over belt. I then bumped into Lesley former Nicks Warehouse waitress who is now working for CoCoture - an amazing new chocy food outlet on Chichester Street. Lesley let me taste the champagn truffle - yum and then sweetly gave me a free hot chocolate. Then it was off to the Merchant Hotel for some Afternoon Tea before heading back to the house for some more research.
The sky today was so beautiful and Napoleons nose a delight to the eye!;)
Discovered that Red or Dead http://www.schuh.co.uk/womens-black-and-white-red-or-dead-vixen-zebra/1164197220/ have a pretty awesome shoe on offer - they look fantastic.
In the fabulous Merchant Hotel and in the company (not directly) with the talented Brian Lynch and a couple of delectable babes. Our own Jimmy Nesbit looking rather thin and I have to say brilliant (like a teenager) comes over to shake Brian’s hand - respect so apparent. A wonderful moment to see two brilliant talents bantering together. Belfast definitely has style and excitment.
There are some life defining moments or rather life defining roads to go through in your life and I’ve experienced it big style. During the key defining moment in political life for many, my personal life has been trying to deal with it’s own agenda. Project management identifies key areas which you need to incorporate into plans - project planning, risk assesments, milestones, goals, aims, outcomes. I do this every day of my life so why oh why don’t I apply it to life.
In the midst of this has been the excitement of the General Election 2010. It was an election which will be recorded for ever in history. From the agreement of live debates among the key leaders - for Britain and indeed Northern Ireland to the drama of a hung parliament scenario. Gordon Brown in the end couldn’t hang on and he ended his premiership a lonly figure on Downing Street with his distraught wife Sarah.
A new day and a new dawn and the images for the history books will be of a new power couple - the Dave & Nick show. Let’s hope it will be good. the farce of the Moliere play tonight at the lyric underlined the need to - not take it too seriously.
rain seems to dilute capabilities to drive so I found myself in a horrendous road block which was made worse a useless driver who seemed to think he had the divine right to overtake and get in front of people.
Today I wore a blue navey dress, highheels and far too many freckles. yes love (i think) the sun:)
Attended special viewing of A Single Man@ Queen’s Film Theatretoday and was blown over by its beauty. The film is about a man grieving about the death of his lover who has decided to kill himself. I adored it - it was absolutely stunningly beautiful, starring Colin Firth and Directed by the fabulous Gucci Fashion Designer Tom Ford. The fashion costumes were amazing from Georges pristine suits and crisp white shirts that act as a mask for a man torn apart by his loss to the fabulous early 60 Jackie O suits and the stunning little girl in her bright sky blue dress and the Dorothy slippers - yet they were sapphire slippers not ruby. We are even graced in it with the voice of the President of the USA John F Kennedy. The beauty of the entire cast is also hard to ignore. Colin Firth might look slightly less than attractive with the side parting but his ability to connect with an audience is totally outstanding. Julianne Moore is also extremely stunning although we really only have a couple of scenes with her - her character Charley drunk with and masking her own misery of never truly loving anyone and failing to truly believe that George had a real love in his 16 year old relationship with Jim. The young student who befriends George almost appears to be a younger Colin who has a similar relationship with his female friend.
I couldn’t help but link the concept of the narrative and sequence of moments to Virgina Woolf and James Joyce. This film is definitely a must see and unbelievably funny despite the subject matter. This day in the life of George is the different stepping stones to his ultimate goal to commit suicide and kill the monotony and empty existence he now has.
Leaving the theatre I felt I was still in that film and so much more conscious of all the little moments of ones life.
