what an absolutely amazing gig at the 02 in Dublin. The little Stevie Wonder that has inspired generations to love good music showed not weakening of his genius. Sometimes I feel that Stevie has been ignored by the great and the good over the years. Now people at last are remembering his absolutely fabulous tunes, writings, his devotion to man and how important that we all stop fighting and hating. The warm balmy night in my adorable Dublin had me as always legging it into the 02 arena after a flighty car journey from Belfast.
Having just checked into the Brook Hotel in Upper George Street, the happy levels had already accelerated when a lovely bubbly receptionist informed me that my room had been upgraded to a suite YEA!!.
Stevie was on his keyboard organ on arrival. The rotund figure a speckle on the stage. Bit by bit i nudged my way up to the front. Everyone was in a fabulous feel good mood, booming smiles came in my direction from all the loved up ones in the audience. A giant in the audience caused some smiles - especially when he located himself right in front of me.
As I looked around at those guys in their seats above the standing area I could see all were fully off their seats and rocking to the man giant of the night Stevie!!
Leaving the arena was as much fun as inside. The beautiful full moon lit River Liffey was a wonderful side friend accompanying truly happy revellers - singing their versions of Wonder hits. At the same time the cars leaving the arena were loud with Stevie Wonder creations, one girl ended up dancing with a car towards the city centre.
A couple of glasses of wine and a desire for some good late night dinning led us to discover a fantastic Indian! What a night In the City!!
Sign Sealed & Delivered - way before Glastonbury!! Dublin’s been blessed!!
